About Moonface

Rachel Ally Calleja is a poet.

That's enough info, right?
No? Okay..

Rachel Ally is a poet hailing from the Western Suburbs of Sydney. She was redubbed 'Moonface' when it was realised how much people gravitate towards her. And when those people started noticing how ridiculously large her face is.

A nomad at heart, Rachel writes to create a sense of home in this beautiful world that belongs to no one. She started on the poet path as an infant, writing (barely legible) birthday poems, and now runs the Mars Hill Slam in Parramatta. She has featured at several events throughout Sydney, including Art Party, Word In Hand, Outspoken, and made it to the 2013 Australian Poetry Slam NSW State Finals. She was also the People's Choice winner at the 2013 Performance Poetry World Cup, and has been played on Sydney's FBI Radio.

Rachel is a complete bookworm, lover of all things Beat Generation, and a connoisseur of words that can't be translated into English. She is part-poet, part-lost-soul, several parts joy and a few extra parts tallness.

As of November 26th, Rachel will be leaving her Sydney home-town on an indefinite Europe adventure. She will be continuing to write and perform wherever she can, and the Mars Hill Slam will continue to run in Sydney under the very capable hands of friend and fellow poet,  the fairytale princess, Rapunzel Espiritu.
